Records of herbal formulas for medicinal use
are recorded from 4000 B.C.. Formulas have been improved upon for 6000 years. Modern
science verifies their effectiveness and helps us adapt these herbs for our modern day needs.
Chinese herbology is the largest branch of traditional oriental
medicine. It is also perhaps the most sophisticated and complex herbal system in the world. Individual herbs and formulas are prescribed
that enhance and extend the effectiveness of acupuncture treatments. Custom formulas are individually
designed for each condition, each person’s constitution and modified as needed. If I need a specific herb not
in my stock I will usually try to acquire it. When Acupuncture is not required herbal treatment can be more cost effective
in most cases than a series of acupuncture treatments. Herbs can have nourishing, moistening, and other beneficial
properties which acupuncture does not have. We
use 5:1 pharmaceutical grade concentrated herbs processed under international GMP guidelines. This process
verifies authenticity of species; potency; herbs free of contaminants, additives and preservatives; free from toxicity, pollutants,
and chemical contaminants; and provides quality assurance.
Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing developed over thousands of years as part of the traditional medicine of China,
Japan, and other eastern countries.
Qi (vital energy) circulates through the body in meridians. When the flow of Qi becomes unbalanced
or blocked pain and disease result. Acupuncture points are specific areas where the Qi can be accessed
and manipulated to restore balance.
Acupuncture
stimulates the nerves in skin and muscle, and can produce a variety of effects. We know it increases the
body’s release of natural pain killers - endorphins and serotonin - in the pain pathways of both the spinal cord and
the brain. But acupuncture does more than reduce pain, and has a beneficial effect on health.
Patients often notice an improved sense of well –being after treatment. Modern research shows
that acupuncture can affect most of the body’s systems: the nervous system, muscle tone, hormone outputs, circulation, antibody production, and allergic responses, as well as respiratory, digestive,
urinary and reproductive systems.
